Yesterday morning before what should have been Manx GP qualifying session two (pesky rain!), Road Racing News caught up with Austria’s fastest TT Races exponent Julian Trummer.
Reunited with Mick Charnock’s DP Coldplaning/TC Racing team, riding the IOM located outfit’s ZXR 750 Kawasaki, Trummer ushered nothing but praise when discussing his 2024 MGP suitors.
“Like my second family, I’ve been in the team since 2016, so it’s like one big family, always good to be here.”
Surmising first qualifying from last Sunday, Trummer fifth quickest on the Classic SBK times sheet, said:
“Pretty good, just a little stupid mistake because my boot was a bit damaged, so we tried to fix it with a bit of silicone and that one melted, so constantly slipped off the foot- rest so the first lap was a bit useless.
But the second one, was good felt really, happy with the bike, gelled straight away, we were all I think pretty, impressed with how it went, all good so far.”
Aims wise for the remainder of MGP competition, it’s a case of reaching the chequered flag.
“Always about doing laps but I think especially for us, it’s our fifth try now to get that finish, so we will work towards finally a finish and hopefully we can do that this year.”
Confirming yesterday that he will be back at the TT Races in 2025, the 41st speediest rider in TT history, was frank about his TT 2024 performance with Jackson Racing, who he will ride for alongside Paul Jordan at November’s Macau Grand Prix.
“It was quite good, we had good testing and stuff, unfortunately I wasn’t, it was the whole thing, new team, all new team and I wasn’t happy at the Northwest, how it went and maybe was putting bit too much pressure on myself.
So, it wasn’t a bad TT but could have been better but think that’s the case always at the TT.”
