2013 Lightweight TT winner James Hillier quest to tackle next year’s Dakar Rally, gathered pace during the past week as he took in one of Europe’s top Endurance rally’s in Andalucia, Spain.
Covering in excess of 1000 kilometres, 14 times TT rostrum finisher Hillier showed all of his proven race craft, tenacity, racing intelligence.
After one prologue, four challenging stages, Rich Energy OMG Racing’s Hillier would finish an overall impressive 15th and third in terms of Race to Dakar competitors.
One step closer to accomplishing his Dakar Rally ambition, he’s targeting becoming the first TT Races winner to take part in the world’s most famous off road Endurance race.
Whilst there’s still a long, long way to go till Dakar competition takes centre stage, the signs are encouraging for the Ringwood racer who as showcased above has already proven his off road riding abilities.
