Ulster Grand Prix – Superstock Race Preview

The superstock race at this years Ulster grand prix is set to produce close and exciting racing. One of the race favourites is Gary Johnson. Gary has this season in the superstock class achieved 2nd and 3rd place finishes at the Isle of Man TT and North west 200.

For the superstock race at this years Ulster grand prix Gary is competing on a ZX10 Kawasaki backed by the JRC racing team. Superstock TT winner in 2013 Michael Dunlop is set to compete on the same bike that won him the superstock TT race.

The bike a CBR 1000 Honda backed by Hunts motorcycles is a bike with great potential proven at this years Isle of Man TT where Michael set a new superstock lap record with a lap speed of 131.220 mph. Padgetts racing always have a good record in the superstock at the international road races and expect this year at the Ulster grand prix to be no different with Bruce Anstey on board the teams CBR 1000 Honda superstock bike.

Suzuki’s entry into the superstock race is lead by the Tyco Suzuki by TAS team. Guy Martin is on board the teams superstock bike which has this season shown consistent pace which has included a 4th place finish at the North west 200.

Fans favourite Guy Martin has a good record at the Ulster grand prix and will be confident of another top result in this years Ulster grand prix superstock race. Cameron Donald is back at this years Ulster grand prix and will be looking for good results on his return to competing on the Dundrod road race circuit.

Cameron is for the superstock race competing for the Wilson Craig racing team on a CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade. 4th place finisher in this years superstock TT race Dean Harrison is a rider who has the potential to win the superstock race at this years Ulster grand prix.

Dean is competing for the RC Express racing Kawasaki by MSS performance team and most recently Dean won the feature race at the cock of the north road races so Dean is in form going into this years Ulster grand prix.

Jamie Hamilton has been in good form all year on the KMR Kawasaki powered by Vauxhall superstock bike and will be aiming to continue this form at the Ulster grand prix. Ben Wylie proved the AFC motorsport BMW SR1000 superstock bikes potential at this years Isle of Man TT by recording a top 10 finish.

Ben is more than capable of recording a top 5 finish in this years superstock race at the Ulster grand prix. Ian Lougher is competing in his last ever Ulster grand prix this year but Ian will be aiming to go out in style when competing in the superstock race for the WA Corless joinery/Jackson racing team.

Davy Morgan’s being this year competing in the superstock class at the international road races on a CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade backed by the CMS racing team. Davy is competing for the same bike and team at this years Ulster grand prix in the superstock race and will be looking for a good result on a bike that has a good all round quality to it.

Current Irish road race champion for the superbike class Derek Shiels is in top form heading into this years Ulster grand prix. Derek competing for the CD racing team on a ZX10 Kawasaki has won this season at the Cork road races and Mid Antrim 150 road races, Derek’s a rider who could surprise many at this years Ulster grand prix in the superstock race.

Dan Cooper, Shaun Anderson, Rob Barber, Michael Pearson, James Coward, Paul Owen, Mark Parrett will be aiming for top 10 finishes in the superstock race, whilst some of the leading newcomers entered in the race include top newcomer at this years Southern 100 Jochem-Van-Den-Hoek who is set to compete on a Ice Valley racing by Motorsave ltd R1 Yamaha.

David Haire has quickly adapted to competing at the North west 200 where David has set consistent lap times. David will be aiming to learn the Ulster grand prix circuit in a similar fashion as David makes his Ulster grand prix debut this year. All round a brilliant entry list for the superstock race at this years Ulster grand prix.
