Ulster GP Comeback Plan Unveiled

Ulster GP Comeback Plan Unveiled

After endless false dawns, empty promises, the world’s fastest road race the Ulster Grand Prix, appears to finally have a legitimate chance of being-revived for the foreseeable-future.

Unveiled today, thanks to effective political, widescale motorsport community backing, a comeback plan is in place, with the UGP hoped to return as early as 2027.

Whilst event running costs, exceeding £750,000 pounds, still needs to-be-raised, the signals from involved parties are positive.

Notably MCUI (Motor Cycle Union of Ireland) – Ulster Centre, have thrown boundless support behind the UGP rejuvenation project.

Their own promotions firm, Ulster Centre Sports Promotions, is-poised to promote the racing.

Prospective race-promoters, officials will be associated with MCUI UC affiliated clubs.

This afternoon’s news is music to the hears of hardy, ultra-enthusiastic real road racing fans, teams, riders, and sponsors.

Last held in 2019, the Ulster GP (first ran in 1922), year after year before competition hiatus, illustrated ten-fold, perhaps-more than any other event, Irish road racing’s other worldly, majestic appeal.

Flat out racing, ultra-high-speed sections, endless close action, the Dundrod course (7.401 miles long), is an undistilled proper road race venue.

UGP News Reaction:

Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club’s Des Stewart:

“On behalf of the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club, we congratulate the Motor Cycle Union of Ireland (UC) Ltd and Ulster Centre Sports Promotions for their lead role in a planned return for the Ulster Grand Prix on the Dundrod Circuit in 2027.

This race- one of Northern Ireland’s greatest sporting events- has been sadly missed from the calendar by all pure Road Racing enthusiasts not least the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club members, who over the
past 6 years have continued in their devotion and belief for it’s return.

Now the hard work begins in earnest: planning, preparation and re-structuring the event to re-kindle the old glory days of ‘The Ulster’, the World’s Fastest Road Race!”

Northern Ireland’s Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly:

“I commend the work of the MCUI in their efforts to see the return of the Ulster Grand Prix to our roads. This event is more than a race — it’s a celebration of our sporting heritage, our passion for motorsport, and the community spirit that makes road racing in Northern Ireland unique.

I would warmly welcome its return and the boost it will bring to our local economy, tourism, and pride.”
