Reigning Duke Road Race Rankings Champion Davey Todd, kick started last week his New Zealand racing expedition in highly proficient fashion, taking victories at the Suzuki international series in conjunction with the New Zealand Superbike series opener at Taupo Motorsport Park.
Three times a top six finisher from the Superbike race stints won by Mitch Rees and Father Tony Rees, the Supermoto races saw the recent Macau Grand Prix runner-up, illustrate and some his diverse skillset.
Astride RMZ450 Suzuki tackle, the Englishman was engaged in tight, gripping tussles for P1 with none other than his main sponsor, Richie Dibben!
Whilst extremely grateful to Dibben for providing him with competitive machinery, on track there was no quarter given.
It was Todd emerging on top in all three class encounters, with under 0.3 of a second separating him and Dibben in the opening eight-lap races.
This weekend (9th-10th December) sees the second round of the Suzuki international series in conjunction with the New Zealand Superbike series, as racers descend upon Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon (Named in honour of the former Le Mans 24 Hours race winner).
As at Taupo, triple Northwest 200 winner Todd will be Suzuki, BMW powered for the Supermoto, F1 Superbike races.
