Thompson Strikes Partnership With HeatTech Racing

York’s Joey Thompson has joined forces with HeatTech Racing, after a recently confirmed agreement between the North West 200 podium finisher and the ambitious Manx roads outfit.

Having previously come close to working together, the long-awaited partnership will see Thompson, a recent three times race winner at the Aberdare Park Road Races, race Z650 Kawasaki machinery at Armoy and the Scarborough Gold Cup.

Speaking recently about the fresh new challenge, top five TT, Classic TT finisher Thompson stated:

“This is a great opportunity for me, I always go well on the smaller bikes. I haven’t had a proper shot on one since 2018 where I had a handful of good results.

I am very grateful to Nige along with the Heattech team for giving me this opportunity and for believing in me.

I still have the 600 (R6 Yamaha) which myself and my dad are focusing strongly on. However, I can’t wait to join the Heattech team and to enjoy this new challenge!”

HeatTech Racing Team Owner, Nigel Humphries added:

“Were do we start? This is something myself and Joey have been discussing for a couple of years now, however unfortunately we never actually got round to agreeing anything.

When I heard that he was having a hard time after recent events, I thought there’s no better time than now to see what he has to offer.

I have therefore given him the opportunity to ride our Z650 Super-Twin at the two events to see how things go.
Myself and the team look forward to working with Joey and we will see where we go from there.”
