York’s Joe Thompson will step back next month into the British Supersport Championship scene, thanks to an enterprising opportunity provided by Wilson Craig Racing.
Last month at Aberdare Park, Thompson competed for the multi International road race winner’s and went onto score a brace of race victories.
Excited about linking up again with the Honda machinery stalwarts, Oliver’s Mount Scarborough specialist Thompson stated:
“I am really looking forward to riding the Wilson Craig Honda at Brands Hatch next month. I have had previous experience in this class and to be back doing what I love with this iconic team is fantastic and I cant wait to get going.
I really cant thank Darren Gilpin enough and also all my personal sponsors for this really exciting experience.
I had the pleasure of riding the Wilson Craig Honda at a wet Aberdare in August and it was one of the best 600 that I have ever ridden, so that fills me with lots of positives heading into Brands Hatch.”
Wilson Craig Racing Team Owner Darran Gilpin, added about the decision to run the next generation International road racer in October’s BSB Brands Hatch season finale.
“We are looking forward to a return to the BSB paddock in October. Joey rode for us at Aberdare in August and excelled on the Honda CBR600RR.
He has proved his pedigree before in British Championship racing and therefore he has the experience necessary to be competitive in what will be our final event of the 2021 season and one which we are all looking forward to.
It is hoped that we will be able to add a second rider to the event on a second Wilson Craig Racing Honda CBR600RR which will be announced at a later date.”
