2012 Irish Road Race Junior Support champion, Mark Shiels who’s racing CV also includes finishing fourth in the following year’s Irish Road Race Supersport 400 Championship, is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News worldwide popular, ten questions challenge.

Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?

“Favourite national Armoy, has a bit of everything.”

Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?

“Favourite bike 2006 ZX6RR Kawasaki, does exactly what it says on the tin.”

Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?

“Sheer speed on closed narrow roads, so close to the crowd and the craic in the paddock is brilliant.”

Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?

“Never done any of the Internationals but spectator wise I think the Ulster Grand Prix, for the close hard racing at such sensational speeds.”

Q5: Most Respected Rival?

“Most respected rivals David Howard and Ronnie Scott, shoulder to shoulder, all clean and fair racing.”

Q6: Best roads moment thus far?

“Winning the 2012 Irish Road Race Junior Support Championship on the very last corner at Killalane, to take the championship by 1 point.”

Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?

“Love to see an International meeting in the south of Ireland.”

Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?

“Road race hero the late great Derek Brien, just so cool and very unassuming, always underrated.”

Q9: Supersport or Superbike?

“Supersport so much easier for a small lad like me.”

Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?

“Fastest lap, not that I get many of either.”
