Team DHR Enters Roads Scene, Sign Ultra Lightweight Manx GP Champ Tweed

A great stalwart of race paddocks, Davy Hamilton who has sponsored iconic, famous names such as twice Irish Road Race 125/Moto 3 champion Sam Dunlop, Darren Burns, Wayne Hamilton and the legendary William Dunlop, has set up a new roads team, which will be known as Team DHR.

The brand new squad has secured for the season ahead, the services of none other than reigning Ultra Lightweight Manx Grand Prix champion Darryl Tweed.

Ballymoney’s Tweed, who’s racing CV also includes overall success in last years Irish Road Race Lightweight Supersport Championship, is widely regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s fastest up coming roads talents.

Machinery wise for 2019, the affable Tweed will pilot 600 Honda, ER6 Kawasaki, 1000cc Kawasaki mounts at all national roads events beginning with the Cookstown 100, plus the Southern 100 and the prestigious Manx Grand Prix.

Commenting on the new challenge with Team DHR (Davy Hamilton Racing), the twice Ultra Lightweight Manx GP victor stated:

“I am super excited to be given this opportunity, to ride more competitive machinery and I’m looking forward to working with Davy and his new team.

I feel that working together we can have a successful season. I predict that I will be able to improve my riding in the Super Twins and 600 class, while gaining valuable experience on a Superbike.”

Team DHR, Team Owner Davy Hamilton added about the prospect of working with the highly rated, multi class specialist Tweed:

“I’ve been watching Darryl over the last few years and I like the way he goes about his business. He has shown real signs of class and I feel that he’s just the man to have on our machinery for 2019.”
