The Supersport class never disappoints at national road races and it was no different this afternoon at Skerries as Michael Sweeney and Michael Browne were embroiled in a battle royal for race honours.
Closely matched throughout, nothing could separate at mid race distance, Sweeney and BE Racing/RK Racing’s Browne.
It was anyone’s guess as to who would emerge victorious between the R6 Yamaha mounted pair, even the circuit commentators couldn’t make their minds up!
Ultimately dairy farmer by trade Browne just had the edge, showing again his proven qualities by keeping at bay local favourite Sweeney.
Browne’s final race winning margin over Sweeney stood at 0.260 of a second.
Wilson Craig Racing’s Darryl Tweed bagged third, Stephen Tobin took an excellent fourth place finish as Andy McAllister, Manx GP podium finisher Jamie Williams wrapped up the top six finishers.
Others to finish the seven lap Supersport Championship race were Alan Johnston (7th), Dennis Booth (8th), Liam Chawke (9th), Dermot Cleary (10th) and Noel Carroll (11th).
