SBK Frohburg Wins X2, New Lap Record For Kostamo

Erno Kostamo ensured IRRC Superbike racing, went out with a bang this afternoon, setting a blistering new Frohburger Dreieck lap-record of 1.32.946 seconds on-route to SBK Race Two victory laurels.

The nine-lap race exploration began with the 2022 Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix winner, having to give chase post lap one thrills to the quick-starting Freddie Heinrich.

Taking the race-lead on lap two, Kostamo and the RVS Motorsport BMW would not forgo P1 across remaining race laps, gradually increasing his leading advantage, which at-the race’s optimisation stood at 6.217 seconds over lead Kawasaki exponent, Heinrich.

Laurent Hoffmann made it successive third place finishes, David Datzer (Datziii Racing by TW3 Racing – BMW) held off Michal Prasek (Rohac & Fejta Motoracing Team – BMW) for fourth.

Gary Johnson (Team Grams – BMW) had been in prime contention for another top five finish before retiring on the final lap.

Johnson’s retirement enabled Nico Muller (Muller Motorsport by Edeka Meisel – BMW), IRRC SBK Champion Darryl Tweed (Never Be Clever Racing – Yamaha), Jan Buchel (Speed Tec – Kawasaki), Virgil Amber Bloemhard (Performance Racing Achterhoek – Kawasaki), David Brook (Brook Suspension.com – Honda) to individually jump up one place to respective finishing positions of sixth to tenth.

Overall, twenty-five riders completed what is at this moment in time, the final IRRC affiliated Superbike race.
