Road Racing News 2025 awards week begins with the Racer of The Year accolade, which goes to, drum roll, feature Northwest 200 Superbike race winner, Davey Todd.
Originally intended to be competing for FHO Racing, before unpredicted (albeit predicted by certain individuals) circumstances, Todd took on a bold new challenge, running his own team, aside good friend, fourteen times TT winner Peter Hickman.
Strongly supported by BMW Motorrad Motorsport, the 8TEN Racing project whilst lets be honest not going to plan BSB wise, went far more smoothly in terms of international road racing ventures.
Todd chalked up three Northwest 200 wins, Superbike TT success, runner-up finishes in Superstock TT contests, went unbeaten in 1000cc races at the Southern 100 and blasted last month to Macau Motorcycle Grand Prix glory.
King of The Roads Champion for the third time in four years, Todd who was also consistently fighting for elite results astride Milenco by Padgetts Honda & Paton apparatus, has-arguably particularly on big bike machinery, become now the one to beat at roads scene ‘Majors.’
A relentless mix of raw speed, shrewd race tactics, huge will to win, ever growing confidence in his ability, has made him uncatchable on various occasions in recent years.
Looking towards next season, his fellow roads ‘aliens’ know they are up against someone in his prime and one keen to make an undimmable print on pure road racing’s storied history.
