Keen to build on a more than adequate, first TT Races tilt in 2024, Stockton on Tees based Tom Robinson is set for this year’s Superbike, Superstock, Senior contests, riding the same R1 Yamaha, he raced last year.
Eight years a Manx Grand Prix competitor, registering two top ten finishes, four top fifteen finishes, he stated to Road Racing News at TT 2024, why he made the decision to solely take in just the 1000cc races.
“I’d done the Manx for quite a years’ now and I was struggling with my size on the 600, I was losing a lot, top end speed wise. The 1000 is a bit more suited to me, I’m a bit heavy! 600’s not for me.”
Twenty fifth, thirty fifth from SBK, Senior races, Robinson concluded his first TT campaign with a huge new personal best lap speed of 124.274 mph, placing him 114th in the all-time fastest TT riders list.
Whilst his second TT venture is taking precedence, it’s not the only road race in Robinson’s plans for this season, with outings potentially at the Tandragee 100, Armoy ‘Race of Legends’, selected Oliver’s Mount events.
Keen for a longer time in the saddle across 2025, having post TT 2024 had operations to remove metal, following previous rib, chest injuries, he stated:
“Fingers crossed I will have a longer season!”
Robinson’s first racing adventure of 2025 took place last weekend at the NEMCRC Croft meet, where he captured top three finishes from Laird of Croft Supersport Race Three, Ken Redfern Trophy Race Three encounters.
