Roads Competitor Watch – BSB/Support Series Brands Hatch GP

BSB, Support Championship competitors descended last week upon Brands Hatch (Grand Prix circuit configuration), for their latest racing bouts of 2025.

2024 Senior TT runner-up Josh Brookes (DAO Racing Honda) had an extremely consistent meeting, racking up ninth x2, tenth place finishes whilst Southern 100 Solo Champion Davey Todd (LEW 8TEN Racing BMW Motorrad) BSB struggles continued albeit he finally scored a first Championship point of the year, taking fifteenth in the third SBK race.

Barry Burrell, Richard Cooper were to the forefront of F900R BMW Cup encounters whilst Northwest 200, TT, Ulster Grand Prix, Steve Henshaw Gold Cup winner Lee Johnston (SENCAT by Swan Racing – Triumph) scored a popular third place finish in the Quattro Group British Supersport Sprint race.

Good friend, five times TT winner Dean Harrison (Honda Racing UK) battled to respective ninth, twelfth place results. Reflecting on Brands action, the international roads ‘Alien’ stated:

“The weekend as-a whole has not been too bad. We’ve definitely-had the worst of the weather conditions in Supersport, compared to every other class on the schedule this weekend.

Still, I scored points in both races and while the positions have not been ideal it has been a bit of a lottery. Tyre choice was crucial today (Sunday 27th July) but the bikes in one piece and it has got to be onwards and upwards from here.”

Works Honda team-mate John McGuinness MBE, back on purpose-built circuit racing duties, rolled back the years, recording a points finish within the opening Pirelli National Superstock race, setting his fastest ever lap at Brands.

Discussing above-featured subjects the Morecambe roads-scene legend said:

“For me, it is good news. Being in the mix for points and battling away with these younger guys was good. It was good racing, no paint was-traded, and in the end, I went faster again in this race than I did yesterday.

I went faster over a lap yesterday than I ever have before at Brands Hatch and today the overall race time was faster, so that’s progress.

The bikes never missed a beat across all the sessions of the weekend, and I kept it on its wheels, so it is wins’ all round for us, really.”
