2008 Scarborough gold cup

The 2008 Scarborough gold cup saw Guy Martin win his sixth successive gold cup. Guy competing on the Hydrex Bike animal Honda Fireblade superbike was in dominant form for the whole meeting and in the gold cup race was dominant throughout.

Second place went to Ryan Farquhar on the Kenny Harker racing ZX10 superstock Kawasaki. Michael Dunlop took third place to round off a top season of road racing for him which included top 10 finishes at the Isle of Man TT. Ian Lougher took fourth place ahead of brother of Michael, William Dunlop on the CD racing superstock bike.

The whole 2008 Scarborough gold cup meeting was enjoyable and alongside Guy Martin’s domination of the superbike races we saw John Mcguinness take a popular overall supersport race win on the Padgetts Honda supersport bike. William Dunlop was also a winner in the supersport category.

One interesting entry for the 2008 gold cup meeting was from Manxman Conor Cummins who took part in the 250 races and achieved a top 10 finish in the process. Overall this was a road race meeting that saw the stars of road racing at their best but also saw how competitive the Dunlops, William and Michael where in the superbike and supersport classes at international road race meetings.
