A little over a month after hosting IRRC festivities, legendary German circuit Schleizer Dreieck hosted last weekend, an IDM (Internationale Deutsche Maisterschaft) round.
Double winner of the Superbike races, setting a new outright lap record (1.23.849) was Ukraine’s Ilya Mikhalchik. Twice second was Markus Reiterberger who in 2022 during qualifying, clocked a new unofficial lap record of 1 minute 23.267 seconds.
Dutch rider Twan Smits won both Supersport races, collected a new class lap record, 1 minute 26.818 seconds.
Interesting to compare the lap-times set by Smits, Mikhalchik, Reiterberger on close to World Championship spec machinery to the times produced by IRRC Schleiz Superbike, Supersport lap record carriers, Julian Puffe (1.25.379) and newcomer to Germany’s eldest street-circuit Adam McLean (1.29.066)
Returning to IDM Schleiz focused competition, riders contesting Superbike, Supersport, Pro Superstock 1000, Super Twin, R7 Yamaha Cup, Sidecar races, whos’ racing resumes’ feature real, street roads experience, were the following:
Croatian Martin Vugrinec (Prize of Krizevci exponent), Supersport IDM race points finishers Sasha De Vits (fastest Belgian Super Twins racer at Hengelo), Jef Van Calster (IRRC Schleiz – Supersport Race 1 winner as wild-card rider).
Respective IRRC Schleiz wild-card riders Marc Neumann, Jan Buchel (Frohburg experience as well), Freddie Heinrich, Martin Van Ruitenbeek, Sheridan Morais (Supersport lap record holder – Frohburger Dreieck, Macau Grand Prix podium finisher), Thomas O’Grady (2022 Irish Masters Superbike Champion).
Ricardo Brink, capable Frohburg exponents Felix Klinck, Gido Nittke, Udo Reichmann and Yamalube Yamaha R7 Cup category winner x2, Frohburger Dreieck Twin Cup podium finisher last year, Felix Kauertz.

The next IDM round of 2024 will be the ‘Dutch TT’ circuit in Assen, with World Sidecars competition taking place at the same time (16th-18th of August).
