The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben was opened in 1997 and it is a former World Superbike circuit in Germany.
Last weekend it hosted the second round of this year’s IDM (International Deutsche Motorradmeisterschaft) series.
First round of IDM 2024, held alongside the World Sidecar Championship season opener was held on the legendary Sachsenring Circuit at the start of May.
Road race experienced riders competing during the recent event at Oschersleben included renowned purpose-built circuit racers like Ilya Michalchik, Florian Alt (first and second from both SBK races), Leandro Mercado, Lorenzo Zanetti, Federico Caricasulo, Kyle Smith, Lennox Lehmann and Jeffrey Buis.
The Supersport IDM start list contained Sasha De Vits, fastest Belgian Super Twins exponent at Chimay Open Trophy and Varsselring, Hengelo. Jef Van Calster, a wildcard entrant last month for IRRC Hengelo competition (finally did not start in Hengelo), also featured in the results.
Pro Superstock 1000 category wise, notable riders participating included Sheridan Morais (Macau GP 2022 podium finisher and Supersport lap record holder at Frohburger Dreieck), Ricardo Brink (member of club sub 1:50 lap time in Hengelo), Marc Neumann (IRRC Superbike wild card rider in Schleiz last year).
Felix Klinck (experienced with German Twin Trophy in Frohburg), Udo Reichmann (German rider with large experience with Frohburg and Horice) and Gido Nittke (also IRRC wild card experiences with Frohburg).
Frohburger Dreieck Twin Cup podium finisher Felix Kauertz bagged a podium finish in the Yamalube Yamaha R7 Cup category.
Next round of IDM 2024 will be at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic and co in-sides with the Sidecar World Championship containing Kevin Rousseau (now TT Sidecar passenger with Ben Birchall) and Todd Ellis with Emmanuelle Clement (TT 2024 newcomers and World Champions 2022, 2023).
