Road Racer’s Adventures: IDM, Autodrom Most

The Autodrom Most based in the Czech Republic near the German border was opened in 1983 and it is currently a World Superbike circuit.

Last weekend it hosted the third round of this year’s IDM (International Deutsche Motorradmeisterschaft) series.

There were top purpose-built circuit racers participating, fresh from testing one week ago during Friday free-practice sessions with IBPM, IRRC pilots at Schleizer Dreieck, Florian Alt, Jan-Ole Jahnig, Toni Finsterbusch and Patrick Hobelsberger.

But we also find interesting names in solo race results for road racing fans. Julius Ilmberger from IDM Superbike was fast wild card rider at the IRRC Schleiz extravaganza.

The IDM Supersport results contained 18-year-old Belgian talent Jef Van Calster, first, second in the previous Sunday’s IRRC Schleizer Dreieck Supersport races after great tussles with Adam McLean (new Supersport IRRC lap record holder at Schleiz).

Additionally, the middleweight class field also featured 2022 Belgian Twin Trophy Champion, fastest Twins class exponent from Belgium at Chimay, Varsselring (Hengelo), Sasha De Vits.

Twins podium finisher in 2023 at Frohburger Dreieck Felix Kauertz, bagged podium finishes (1st and 2nd) in the Yamalube Yamaha R7 Cup category.

Let’s not forget to look at some of the names arising within the Sidecar World Championship results from Autodrom Most.

Second times two, Harry Payne (top Sidecar TT newcomer driver of 2022 and former passenger for 17 times TT winner Dave Molyneux) aside Kevin Rousseau (second alongside Ben Birchall in final 3wheeling.media Sidecars race of TT 2024).

The UK duo of Sam and Tom Christie (TT passenger recently for Daryl Gibson) chalked up third place finishes.

Two times successive World Champion, winner of the Peter Chapman Trophy from TT 2024, Todd Ellis with his partner Emmanuelle Clement, fastest ever female three-wheeling participant in TT Races history were fourth times two.

Attaining double fifth place finishes were Imatranajo Sidecar lap record holder, five times World Champion Finnish legend Pekka Paivarinta, UK passenger Adam Christie.

Seventh x2 was overall Sidecar lap record holder at Circuit De Chimay, Ted Peugeot joined by his father Vincent (passenger).

The next IDM round of 2024 will be a traditional highlight of the Championship, taking place at previously mentioned Schleizer Dreieck (26th-28th of July).
