The six-hours Endurance DLC (Deutsche Langstrecken Cup) race commenced at the same place which hosted an IDM Championship round back in June, the 2.279 miles long Motorsport Arena Oschersleben.
Moto 1000 category winners, third place overall, finishing 199 laps were the Ilmberger Carbon Racing team which contained Julius Ilmberger, IDM rider and IRRC Superbike wild card at Schleizer Dreieck.
Ilmberger, his father Julius Ilmberger SR’s carbon racing products family business, has struck up partnerships in recent times with the likes of FHO Racing BMW and BMW Motorrad’s factory World Superbikes team.
Added roads experienced riders circulating around Oschersleben were IRRC regulars Dirk Walter (full IRRC season in 2023, this year only started at Frohburg – Supersport/Superbike) and Thilo Gunther, known for his outlandish rider-stunts after finish of races.
There’s also Lorenz Sennhauser from Switzerland, known for his Superstock 1000 battles with Horst Saiger at Schleizer Dreieck during the beginning of the previous decade.
Racing continues this weekend at Oschersleben with the Bonovo Action Sidecar Festival featuring World Sidecars, IDM Sidecars, Northern Sidecar Cup, Camathias Cup races and Classics demo, taxi rides.
Over 190 teams are registered for these events including famous drivers, passengers a plenty.
For instance, Ted Peugeot/Vincent Peugeot (Chimay Sidecars lap record holders), multiple Imatranajo winner, lap record holder Pekka Paivarinta with UK passenger Adam Christie, Harry Payne & TT rostrum finisher Kevin Rousseau, sterling TT newcomers this year Todd Ellis/Emmanuelle Clement and newly announced Mountain Course debutant for 2025, Steve Kershaw with Stuart Clark.
