Irish roads royalty a plenty was in attendance over the weekend at Mondello Park, for the season opening Dunlop Masters Superbike Championship round.

Runner-up within the opening big bike encounter, the second blue riband class Superbike race would see Roadhouse Macau BMW mounted Derek Sheils surge to victory.

4.6 seconds clear of the chasing pack, triple Irish Road Race SBK Champion Sheils showed again why he’s not to be underestimated around purpose built circuit racing venues.

Fellow countryman, twice Junior Manx GP winner Michael Sweeney alongside performing strongly in the Superbike races, took a dominant hat-trick of Super Twin victories.

Another top calibre roads pilot to take a race win was Adam McLean, following success in a thrilling, captivating opening Supersport race.

BE Racing In Conjunction with Richardson Kelly Racing’s Paul Jordan & Michael Browne joined McLean in banking Supersport podium finishes, whilst added seasoned pure road racing competitors in action included:

Faraldo Racing’s Eoin O’Siochru, Barry Sheehan, Ryan Maher, Manx GP victor Derek Wilson, reigning Irish roads Junior Support Champion Vinny Brennan and one of the quickest Mountain Course newcomers at TT 2019, Ray Casey.
