Whakatane rider Rees, the undoubted ‘King Pin’ of recent years at the Southern Hemisphere’s ‘Isle of Man’ (Cemetery Circuit Races), sped to three SBK victories plus a new two-wheel racing, Hampton Downs lap-record, lapping during the second 1000cc encounter at 1 minute 33.712 seconds.
Closest chaser to the good friend of 2024 Senior TT winner, King of The Roads Champion Davey Todd in SBK races two & three, despite not feeling 100 percent was NZ street racing hero Tony Rees.
Current generation NZ roads scene specialist, Cookstown 100 race winner, top twenty Northwest 200 finisher Daniel Mettam, additionally had ample reason to leave yesterday’s competition in high spirits, having chalked up a hat-trick of Post Classic/GP Two-Strokes combined triumphs.
The final NZ SBK Championship affiliated action of 2025 commences this weekend (15th-16th of March), with Taupo International Motorsport Park the host venue.
