Pre TT Classic: Saturday Afternoon Fun At Billown

Pre TT Classic: Saturday Afternoon Fun At Billown

Same as last night, glorious bright, sunny weather was an extremely pleasant sight for racers ahead of second timed qualifying sessions at the Pre-TT Classic.

Before Tobermore’s Adam McLean topped 1100cc Q2, event wins record holder Mike Hose, Irish road racing legend Barry Davidson consolidated 350 Singles, 250 Singles pole positions, registering respective best lap speeds of 86.161, 79.101 mph.

Distinctive two-stroke noises then serenaded around Billown as the race for Junior Superbike pole position finalised.

Manx GP stalwart Tom Snow, Super Twins TT entrant Chris Moore, Michal ‘Indi’ Dokoupil led the live timing screens but none of the three could top Rhys Hardisty’s best speed of 95.039 mph, set during Friday evening, meaning outright qualifying success for the amiable Welshman.

Next to enthral the enthusiastic crowd in attendance was the Senior Classics field.

Aforementioned Ulster Grand Prix winner McLean astride Royal Enfield Bullet tackle, looked good to finish speediest.

In the session’s closing stages, Hebden Bridge’s Jamie Coward dramatically produced a potent charge, ending with a lap time of 2:41.984 seconds, finishing 0.310 faster than 56 plate holder McLean.

Remaining afternoon action, held in picturesque conditions yielded Q2 wins for Keith Shannon (Lightweight 250), Owen Monaghan (125 Post Classic), the above featured Jamie Coward (Classic Superbike).

Davies Motorsport’s Dominic Herbertson (Junior Classic), Kieran Clarke/Andrew Johnson (Sidecars).

Opening races of this year’s, Blackford Financial Services Pre-TT Classic Road Races, commence tonight with competition scheduled to begin at 6:20 PM.
