Opinion: We’ve Had False Dawns Before About New Roads Events, But This Feels Different

We’ve had false dawns before haven’t we? when it comes to new roads events across the UK but the Isle of Wight based Diamond Races, feels a lot different.

When you see the individuals behind the event, allied to strong support from the ACU, a great plan in place it only provides music to the ears of the pure road racing fraternity.

Set to become just the fourth International event on the road race calendar, the Diamond Races are certain to provide distinct new challenges for prospective entrants.

Competitors wishing to make the trip down to the Isle of Wight, will be embarking upon racing around a 12.4 miles long course when is fast, flowing, tight, technical, narrow.

From the outside looking in, this is a circuit which has all the hall marks of being a truly great roads circuit.

Picturesque with it’s backdrop, coast roads, aesthetically pleasing scenery, it is pure road racing in it’s purest form.

Now obviously for any new event, attracting the creme de la creme of road racing may be tough but with Neil Tuxworth heading up the rider/team recruitment, don’t be surprised to see multiple TT winners, all round roads legends competing next year.

After all we’ve been through this year, it’s truly brilliant to showcase a new road race event and one that hasn’t just been put together overnight, it’s been thought through correctly, backed by the right people and has garnered praise from many high profile individuals.
