Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Stuart Hall

Oliver’s Mount Top 8: Stuart Hall

Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is Manx Grand Prix podium finisher, two stroke racing titan Stuart Hall.

Virtually unbeatable in recent times at Scarborough on 250 tackle, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:

Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?

“Been at Oliver’s Mount with my dad in the late 70’s as a little lad, albeit I was more interested in playing in the woods than watching him compete.”

Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?

“I love being part of the entertainment, mingling with so many enthusiasts, spectators and pure road racers alike, and having the opportunity to ride the circuit that so many road racing legends have done before us over the years.”

Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?

“My favourite part is over Jefferies’s jumps; I have so many fond memories of watching superstars over there since being a small child and I still head there to spectate now.”

Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?

“Many great moments, the moments that stand out are seeing spectators hanging over the fence with the best to date been in 2024 when coming out onto the back straight I saw a young fan hanging a sign out saying Come on Stu, absolutely-epic and made my life complete. Thank you!”

Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?

“I have many heroes as I’m a huge fan; standouts are seeing Darren Dixon on the Padgetts RG500, Gary Thrush beating the established stars.

Carl Fogarty on the RS250 (Honda). But my hero is without doubt David Jefferies; a humble gentle giant who enjoyed his racing, Scarborough paddock life and having the craic with us. Sorely missed, but fondly remembered.”

Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?

“Watching my dad race his TZ750 (Yamaha) around Scarborough has given me fond memories; so, I’d have to say I would love to race a TZ750 around there to rekindle the sights, sounds and smell of those epic days.”

Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?

“One word, unique”

Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?

“Most respected modern day racing rival would have to be Tony Flinton; a local fella, such an enthusiast, so fast and clearly living the dream, hey and on a two stroke too. Enough said!”
