Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is 2024 Bob Smith Spring Cup, Support race top three finisher x2, Nick Boggan.
Fourteen times, nine times respectively a top twenty, top fifteen finisher from Scarborough racing explorations, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“Early 2000’s-ish leaning on the fence watching the bikes come out of Memorial blasting past and braking into Drury’s. It blew my mind!”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“Just the fact I get to have a go; it gets me every time. Having watched there for years and wondered so many times what it would be like to have a go, for it to be happening feels special.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“The full course is mega and there isn’t a section I don’t enjoy but if I’ve got to pick, I love the run out of Mere up the hill and through the Esses. It’s a fantastic feeling when you link it all together perfectly!”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“I have some great memories from various races and to be fair I’ve surpassed some of my personal expectations since I started racing at Scarborough but the Super twins race at last years’ Gold Cup stands out.
I ended up battling with Ian Lougher on the Paton for a few laps and got past him at one point. The man’s a legend, proper road racing royalty and having watched him numerous times at Scarborough and the TT I couldn’t quite believe it was happening.
He did of course eventually come back past on the last lap and cleared off, but it was awesome whilst it lasted!”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“I have huge respect for everyone who lines up on that grid, you just know everyone goes out there and gives it their all.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Dean Harrison go round there though.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“It’s got to be 250 smoker I reckon that would be awesome!”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Special”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“I don’t have any rivals as such, and I have some great memories of battling with various riders, but local lad Paul Moir is a bit of a stand-out. I’ve had some great battles with him on track and some good laughs with him in the paddock!”
