Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is top five finisher from the 2022 Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, ‘Gazbo’ Garry Broughton.
34th, 35th in last year’s Lightweight/Ultra Lightweight combined, Junior Super Twin Manx Grand Prix races, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“Barry Sheene Classic 2020. My first ever Oliver’s Mount event and Road Race. To say I was scared is an understatement. Sat around most of the day waiting for the fret to lift didn’t help the anxiety.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“The atmosphere amongst the paddock and seeing all the spectators supporting the event.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“This is a tough one as I enjoy every section, would have to be Jefferies Jumps for me though, get it right and it’s something special.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“Managing to beat my 2021 dry lap times at the 2024 Barry Sheene Classic in the wet.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“David Jefferies without doubt, I still watch videos of him around there now.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“250 2 Stroke GP machine, the clutch probably wouldn’t last long though pulling my weight up the Mere!”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Unique”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“Anybody that is brave enough to enter, everybody on the grid has my upmost respect.”
