Various times a top ten, top eight finisher at Scarborough’s ‘Mini TT’, Cramlington’s David McConnachy is the next racer to take part in Road Racing News, growing in popularity Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series.

A very creditable 13th within the Steve Henshaw International Gold Cup of 2016, his answers to the Scarborough themed set of questions are as follows:

Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?

“Watching way back in the late 80’s, 90’s, watching the likes of Dean Ashton, Chris Palmer, Ian Bell, Derek Heron, Garry Dickinson, all greats and quality racing.”

Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?

“The Atmosphere, history around the place is amazing, and how close the fans can get to the action, it was a childhood dream to race one day around there.”

Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?

“I like the run from the Esses to Drury’s, fast and flowing.”

Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?

“Has to be lining up alongside some of the best road racers, and finishing 13th in the 2016 Gold Cup Final on my R6.”

Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?

“There’s a few to be honest, David Jefferies the way he made winning look so easy around there, and Ian Lougher, adapting to all kinds of bikes and continuously winning.”

Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?

“Love to have ridden a RS250 Honda around there, grew up with 2 strokes and would have loved to have raced back then.”

Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?

“Challenging”

Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?

“Hard to say really, have had some good battles over the last few years, but respect all rivals in each class.”
