Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is Brook Built Racing’s Ben Long.
Supersport (B) Race Three winner in last month’s Steve Henshaw Gold Cup, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“I think it was 2012. Me and a few mates stayed in a tent, drank too much and watched Ryan Farquhar win almost every race.”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“The people. It’s such a friendly paddock. The organisers/marshals/racers and mechanics all seem to get on and I come away from each meeting with one or two new friends.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“The short straight leading into Drury’s. I’ve been able to make a few moves on the brakes into there this year which has led to some good results.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“The final Supersport B race at the gold cup this year, where I managed to take my first Oliver’s Mount race win and a win for the Brook Built Racing team.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“Dean Harrison. He was always awesome to watch as a fan. Hopefully he will make a return soon.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“A Honda VTR SP1. Maybe one day they will be eligible for Classic Superbike class. If they-ever-are I will build one.”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Addictive”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“Stevie Degnan. I’ve had some close racing with him this year. Always respectful and always safe. I feel I’ve Learned a lot from racing with him this year.”
