Next to take part in Road Racing News, revamped Oliver’s Mount Top 8 series is top 15, top 25 finisher in the Ultra Lightweight, Junior Manx GP races of 2024, Cirrus Racing’s Andrew Jones.
A top three finisher at England’s Northwest 200, Southern 100 equivalent, his answers to the set of questions, are as follows:
Q1: First memory of Oliver’s Mount?
“I always followed the racing growing up, then watched Dean Harrison vs Lee Johnston in 2020, the onboard footage was insane, so had to have a go!”
Q2: Favourite part about racing at the mount?
“Racing the circuit and seeing the crowds on the fences is insane. Such a good feeling.”
Q3: Favourite section of Scarborough course?
“Out of Drury’s down to Mountside is class. The sense of flying through the tunnel of trees is something else.”
Q4: Best moment thus far at Scarborough?
“I had a podium on the 400 back in 2022 (Steve Henshaw Gold Cup) in my debut year which was pretty special.”
Q5: All time Scarborough racing hero?
“I’d say it’s Ian Lougher being a fellow Welshman. He’s achieved some serious success around there.”
Q6: Is there one machine in particular that you would like to race at Scarborough?
“I’d fancy a go on a 250 2 smoker around there.”
Q7: One word to describe Oliver’s Mount?
“Legendary”
Q8: Most respected racing rival at Scarborough?
“I’d say my good mate, Richie Welsh! As he’s had some great wins and he’s super-fast on the 400s around there.
A pleasure to race against, not that I was anywhere near him. He also spannered for me at the Manx last year, an absolute legend of the sport for me!”
