Next up post opening Superbike action on Saturday’s NW200 race schedule, was the J M Paterson Super Twins race.
Once again pretty much perfect conditions greeted those participating within the four-lap race.
An intriguing opening lap saw Jeremy McWilliams astride the Bayview Hotel Paton, hold sway over Adam McLean and Twins lap record holder Richard Cooper.
It didn’t take long though for KMR Kawasaki’s Cooper to hoover up P1 but in contrast to the previous Twins encounter, he wasn’t able to pull away with McLean, McWilliams quickly getting back on level terms.
Tobermore’s McLean held the race lead at lap two’s completion with just 0.691 covering the top three.
Lap three proved decisive in the race’s outcome as Cooper surged ahead, opening up as the fourth, final lap beckoned, a 2.62, 2.87 seconds advantage over McWilliams and McLean.
The Cooper/KMR Kawasaki combination proved unbeatable again, with the Nottingham racer enjoying a final race winning margin of almost five seconds.
McWilliams held off McLean for third as PreZ Racing’s Jordan, Team ILR with Frog Vehicle Developments Stefano Bonetti, 27 plate holder Joe Loughlin rounded out the top six.
Clinching seventh-tenth place finishes behind Bonetti, Loughlin were top NW200 debutant Cory West, Emmett O’Grady, Manx GP alumni Jamie Williams and Francesco Curinga.
