TT Races, Irish Road Racing, International Road Racing great Michael Dunlop ended his maiden Daytona 200 campaign, with a more than creditable 11th place finish in today’s feature race at Daytona International Speedway.
The original start of the Daytona 200 saw Dunlop starting from 21st, hold a respectable 18th after 18 laps before an incident involving Kyle Wyman brought out the red flags.
The race was soon re-started and Dunlop looked to have found something for the re-start, with his pace impressively increasing from the previous race start.
By lap 31, his best lap time stood at 1 minute 51.638 seconds as he started to look more at one with the RPM Kawasaki steed.
Fast forward to closing race stages and the Ballymoney racer was looking good for a top ten finish, before ultimately dropping back to a final finishing position of 11th.
Still a very productive day overall for Dunlop who’s new PB lap time at Daytona, stands at 1 minute 51.534 seconds.
Ahead of ‘MD’ overall race honours went just to British Supersport bound Brandon Paasch, with only 0.030 of a second! covering him and Sean Dylan Kelly come the completion of the 57 lap race.
