Manx Grand Prix: Curinga, Sinclair Top Tuesday Afternoon Lightweight, Ultra Lightweight Practice Charts

Following the Newcomers race, James Hind’s unofficial Junior class lap record breaking feat, Tuesday’s afternoon two lap Lightweight/Ultra Lightweight practice session provided more captivating Manx GP action.

Topping the Lightweight practice chart was Italian star Francesco Curinga. Curinga piloting one of Paton’s iconic S1-R steeds, has been in great form throughout practice week and his excellent form continued in today’s timed practice, registering an impressive class table topping lap speed of 114.51 mph.

25 seconds behind Curinga’s rapid lap speed of 114.51 mph, which equates timing wise to 19 minutes 46.118 seconds, was Fingal Motor Club backed Dave ‘Sideshow’ Butler (112.12 mph).

Others to lap in excess of the 110 mph lap mark were AGR Motorsport supported David McConnachy (110.89 mph) and two stroke specialist, Wobbly Bob Racing’s Gary Vines (110.58 mph).

Reflecting on this afternoon’s Ultra Lightweight class action, the pace was set by respected yesteryear machinery racer, CSC Racing’s Alex Sinclair.

Sinclair’s standing start lap speed of 104.80 mph, proved just enough to hold off prior practice week pace setter Dan Ingham (104.40 mph), to claim Tuesday of race week practice honours.

Just under 12 seconds covered respective third, fourth, fifth, sixth quickest Ultra Lightweight exponents Leon Murphy (103.59 mph), Lloyd Collins (103.55 mph), the RAF’s Rad Hughes (103.02 mph) and BES Contracts/Sarah’s Cottage supported Alan Johnston (102.66 mph).

Sebastian Witt (102.07 mph) led the Kramer Motorcycles challenge, whilst others to show an accomplished turn of pace included Kramer stable mate Sarah Boyes (100.01 mph), Arnie Shelton (101.42 mph), Shelley Pike (98.23 mph) and next gen French roads talent Lancelot Unissart (101.45 mph).
