Manx Grand Prix: Chawke Adds Lightweight Lap Record To Stellar 2018 Meeting CV

Adding to an already by Friday morning stellar meeting CV, the final day of racing at the 2018 Manx Grand Prix provided another momentous moment for Mylchreests Junior victor James Chawke.

The second Manx GP Supporters Lightweight race, saw Chawke prior to dropping out of race contention on the fourth and final lap at Ballagarey Bridge, set on lap two aboard the factory supported Mark Coverdale Paton, a new class lap record of 114.993 mph.

Unquestionably amongst the standout riders of this years Manx Grand Prix, you can tell what it means to the amiable Chawke to excel around the fabled Mountain Course.

Prior to yesterdays races which also yielded a solid top six finish within the blue riband Senior race, I managed to grab a quick word with him about his achievements from last Wednesday, which included joining the Manx GP winners circle.

The highly rated Irishman stated:

“It’s been unbelievable, it’s a dream come true two podiums in one day, it’s unreal. I really enjoyed that race (Lightweight Race 1), lost a bit of time in the pits due to been nervous and things but look it is what it is, we’ve done our best.”
