Manx GP Preview Part 3 – Classic Senior

Manx GP Preview Part 3 – Classic Senior
Joining forces again with long term partners Team Winfield, 23 times TT winner John McGuinness MBE, starts for many a strong favourite to claim the Bremont Classic Senior title.

The combination of McGuinness MBE and the Winfield Paton, proved untouchable in 2018 and 2019 and various roads scene insiders are expecting more of the same this month.

Joining seven times Senior TT Champion McGuinness in being a race winning contender, is Supersport TT lap record holder Michael Dunlop.

No stranger to Paton machinery in modern Super Twins form, the Ballymoney roads great knows and some what it takes to secure Manx GP victories and he will have eyes set on only one finishing position this month.

Further exotic Italian tackle set to circulate around the fabled, mythical Mountain Course the John Chapman Racing MV Agusta piloted by 10 times TT winner Ian Lougher, Pierre Yves Bian (Paton VAS) and 2019 class runner-up Stefano Bonetti, aboard the Peter Beugger Racing Paton.

Outside of the Italian marques, perennial front running contender, current TT Privateers Champion Jamie Coward, jockeying the Ted Woof/Craven Classic Racing Manx Norton, is aiming to finally take class honours.

Don’t discount as well from being in the mix for at minimum top three finishes the Davies Motorsport pairing of Lee Johnston and Dominic Herbertson.

Seven times TT winner Michael Rutter (Ripley Land Racing) is also likely to contend for a spot in the race winners enclosure whilst notable racers Honda mounted include:

Alan Oversby (Martin Ireland), Rob Hodson (Ruthless Racing), Michael Sweeney (CSC Racing/IMS Racing).

Reigning Senior MGP winner Nathan Harrison, Phil Harvey (CSC Racing), Ben Rea, James Chawke, Maria Costello MBE and newcomers Andy Hornby, Kelly Carruthers.

Further depth to the entry is provided by Irish Road Race 125/Moto 3 Champion Michael Browne, Michael Russell (Izzard Racing), John Leigh Pemberton.

Tom Weeden, America’s Yuri Barrigan, Cleethorpes Jeff Smith, Will Loder (MRE Seeley G50), Mark Parrett and DKW runner Richard Wilson.

Tobermore’s Adam McLean has also entered but at present is yet to announce his machine of choice for the yesteryear Senior class, which is certain to produce captivating competitive action at the 2022 Manx Grand Prix.
