Competing around the unparalleled, mythical, fabled Mountain Course is a distinct, major landmark in any pure road racers career.
It’s no different for improving, next generation Irish road racing talent Eoin O’Siochru.
Junior Support race winner at Cookstown, Kells and Skerries, his first Manx GP tenure has been to date an enjoyable experience.
Speaking about tackling for the first time the 37 and three-quarter miles long Mountain Course, he stated:
“It’s unbelievable, total cliche to say but it is, very hard to explain or describe unless you’ve done it.
But it is something else, I thought the Ulster Grand Prix was going to be the best but this might have trumped it, really enjoying it.”
When asked if he found any parts of the Course surprising, bumpier than expected, he said:
“The section just after Ginger Hall and there’s a fast right over a crest and down into that left hander, that is really, really bumpy and there is a mad compression at the bottom of it.”
Reflecting on the 2022 roads season to date, O’Siochru who presently stands third in the Irish Road Race Junior Support Championship, stated:
“Can’t really complain about it to be honest, got a couple of wins, just a solid season.
Kind of put the mockers on Championship titles by missing Armoy and things like that but can’t really complain.
This was the absolute priority for the year so championships aside and everything I didn’t mind taking a hit.”
Thirteenth quickest qualifier for this afternoon’s Junior MGP race, O’Siochru summed up competing at real road racing’s equivalent to Wimbledon, the Crucible, Ally Pally, in two words.
“Very fast”
