Macau Grand Prix 2013 Preview – Part 1

The Macau grand prix for 2013 celebrates its 60th anniversary and along the way many of the best road racers of all time have taken part in the iconic road race. One of the best riders to have competed at the Macau grand prix is Michael Rutter. Michael after winning last years race is now officially the most successful rider at the Macau grand prix with eight race wins to his credit.

 

Michael is back for this years event competing for the SMT racing team and will start as one of the favorites when race day approaches. Isle of Man TT legend John McGuinness first tasted victory at the Macau grand prix in 2002, John has every chance this year to win the Macau grand prix for the second time when competing on the Honda TT legends racing superbike.

 

Road racing hero Ian Hutchinson is back in action at this years Macau grand prix competing for the Milwaukee Yamaha team. Ian has achieved podium finishes at the Macau grand prix in 2006,2009 and in 2011. Runner up in the Macau grand prix in 2011 and 2012 Martin Jessopp returns this year with the Riders motorcycles team competing on a SR1000 BMW.

 

3rd place finisher in the 2010 Macau grand prix Jeremy Toye is back for this years event competing for the Penz 13.com BMW team. Also on BMW machinery at this years Macau grand prix is Jimmy Storrar who is competing for the DMR racing team.

The Quattro plant motorsport team are running up to four riders at this years Macau grand prix. Leading the team’s entry is 2011 supersport TT race 2 winner Gary Johnson. Gary this year has being in fine form achieving podium finishes at the Isle of Man TT, North west 200 and Ulster grand prix. For the Macau grand prix Gary is competing on a CBR 1000 Honda Fireblade, Gary’s a rider who is more than capable of potentially securing race victory at the Macau grand prix this year.

 

Having made his Macau grand prix debut last year, Steve Heneghan is back for this year’s event and will be aiming to achieve a personal best race finish and lap time. Experienced road racer Sandor Bitter makes a return to the Macau grand prix this year, whilst AJ Venter is set to make his Macau grand prix debut, AJ made his Isle of Man TT debut this year securing consistent results in the superbike, superstock and senior TT races.
