Compendium of race results from today’s action, at the Kopcany (´Kopciansky Motookruh´) Road Races, illustrating wins in modern classes for Austrian ultra-lightweight category star Christopher Eder (GP 125), Horice hero Marek Zima (Sport Production 125), Czech rider Lubos Kycler (Supersport 300) and unfortunately as well, road racing fans, you guessed it, the rain.
Wet weather before Supersport contests’ burst, curtailed the remainder of Sunday’s racing. A similar scenario was faced by organisers on the Isle of Man, regarding yesterday’s Milwaukee Senior TT.
As we previously reported, Saturday qualifying winners (for not started Sunday races) were Marek Cerveny (Supersport, Super Twins), Roman Kurina (Superbike), Jan Huk (Supermono), Chris Meyer (Open 250), Petr Plichta (Supersport 400), Marek Stibor (Classic Superbike), Miroslav Medek (Classic Open) and one of the main organisers of Kopcany races, David Hanzalik (Classic Legend). There was also one UK entrant this weekend, Richard Peers Jones (Classic 350 race entrant).
We hope the weather, will be on the side of the organisers (led by former road racers, son and father, Milos Balaz and Peter Balaz), for further races this season in Slovakia, like Dolny Hricov – Zilina Airport Races (20th-22nd June), street-circuit Holic Castle Classic (16th August) and Trencin Airport Races (29th-31st August), where David ‘Datziii’ Datzer set last year, the new overall track record (lap time – 59.542).
See you next year, for Kopcany 2026 edition, for the only road race, catering for modern machinery in Slovakia!
