Johnston Targeting International Roads Supersport Grand Slam

Planning to build upon what’s been an already tumultuous International roads campaign, Ashcourt Racing’s Lee Johnston is confident of claiming an abundance strong results from August’s fonaCAB Ulster Grand Prix.

Set to pilot S1000RR BMW machinery in the Superstock, Superbike races, a KMR Kawasaki mount in the Super Twin encounters, it’s the Supersport class which ‘General Lee’ believes provides him his best chance of adding to his present tally of eight International road race victories.

Commenting on this topic, the three times Ulster GP race winner, who’s targeting a unique ‘Grand Slam’ of International roads Supersport triumph’s, stated:

“I will get a run out on my Superbike before the Ulster but the main focus must be on the Supersport class.

I’ve only four Supersport wins to my name at the Internationals but loads of podium finishes, so it’s time I got my finger out and really made it count.”

Reflecting on competitive action thus far in 2019, the rider who completed the International roads triple crown at TT 2019, stated:

“It has been a good year so far. People say I have turned a corner but I haven’t been riding any harder. It is just all the little two percents that are coming together and making the difference.

Organising my own team means I am involved in every little thing. That is a great motivator and has given me a new interest in racing.”
