One of pure road racing’s longest running event sponsorship partnerships will continue in 2022, as the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company retain title sponsorship status of the Southern 100.
Meeting supporters since 1987, the ferry operators continued backing is a huge plus for the ‘Friendly Races’, which has been absent from the roads calendar for the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, it’s hoped that the much loved Castletown based Southern 100 will return next year, with competitive action planned to take place across the second week of July (11th-14th).
Speaking recently about the aforementioned retention of Steam Packet Company support, Club Secretary for Southern 100 Racing Rachel Palmer stated:
“The Southern 100 Club have an excellent working relationship with the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, built up through many years and they are always willing to assist us when necessary to ensure that the high safety standards we have set are maintained for the benefit of competitors and spectators alike and in assisting with travel arrangements for competitors and marshals.
We are very much indebted to them for their continued and much valued sponsorship and are very proud to have
them as title Sponsors of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races and look forward
to welcoming their new Managing Director, Brian Thomson to the Billown Course during 2022.”
Steam Packet Company Managing Director Brian Thomson, additionally commented:
“It is an absolute pleasure to continue our long-standing association with the ‘The Friendly Races’. As a proud title sponsor we are looking forward to the return of the Isle of Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races in 2022 and assisting the organisers in a variety of ways.”
