Tobermore’s Adam McLean stunned the IRRC fraternity this afternoon, clinching in dramatic fashion pole-position for tomorrow’s 12-lap Supersport races at Germany’s eldest street circuit, Schleizer Dreieck.
IRRC Supersport Championship leader, four times Champion Marek Cerveny (1.30.037) was on course for outright qualifying spoils, only for Performance Racing Achterhoek’s McLean (1.30.030) to lap 0.007 of a second faster.
Petr Najman (1.31.101) finished third quickest after a late burst of speed, event wildcards Jef Van Calster (1.31.236), Philipp Stich (1.31.660) were respectively fourth, sixth fastest with Team Schleizer Dreieck’s Sebastian Frotscher (1.31.540) in between them.
Englishman Finn Chapman (1.31.866) now based in Germany, was seventh fastest, marginally speedier than Dutch ace Ilja Caljouw (1.32.212).
Twice TT winner Gary Johnson (1.32.364) occupied P9 on the timing screens with Q1 pace setter Darryl Tweed (1.32.579) completing the top ten.
Eleventh to fifteen in Supersport Q2 were Rico Vetter (1.32.753), Thomas Wendel (1.32.910), Romain Cleaz Savoyen (1.33.166), Mauro Poncini (1.33.437) and Jamie Williams (1.33.976), fresh from helping the Jackson Racing squad at TT 2024.
