IRRC Schleiz: McLean Joins IRRC Winners Circle

Ulster Grand Prix winner, Classic TT podium finisher Adam McLean added his name to the IRRC winners’ book, following a superb vault to P1 in the second IRRC Supersport race at Schleizer Dreieck.

Re-started, after the original race start was halted due to an incident involving Darryl Tweed and Wesley Ankersmid, the ten lap re-run saw Performance Racing Achterhoek’s McLean, quickly hit the sweet spot.

Almost 0.6 clear of Marek Cerveny at lap one’s finalisation, he step by step began to break the challenge of the iconic Czech rider.

Incredibly on laps three, four and five, McLean attained successive record lap times, the best been 1 minute 29.066 seconds.

Nigh-on 2.25 seconds to the good out front as closing race stages loomed, the Tobermore rider’s pursuit of victory spoils would not be derailed, with the next gen roads scene exponent emerging with a winning margin of a touch under 2.6 seconds.

McLean is the first UK rider this decade, to claim an IRRC affiliated race win.

Supersport Race One conqueror Jef Van Calster bested WRP Wepol Racing’s Cerveny on the tenth and final lap to take second.

Cerveny third, captured another juicy 20 Championship points, bolstering further his 2024 IRRC Supersport Championship lead.

Finn Chapman took fourth, Sebastian Frotscher took fifth, Rico Vetter was sixth.

Ilja Caljouw obtained seventh with Romain Cleaz Savoyen, Mauro Poncini, Rhys Hardisty wrapping up the top ten.

Twice TT winner Gary Johnson was eleventh, ‘AKA Driver’s race was largely impeded after accruing a jump-start penalty.
