IRRC Imatranajo: Todd Tightens Grip On Superbike Championship, Wins Compelling Inter Team Battle

Emerging on top following a quite compelling inter team battle with Danny Webb, for IRRC Superbike race 2 spoils, Davey Todd tightened his grip on this years IRRC Superbike Championship, taking his championship lead to in excess of 30 points.

Never headed in this afternoon’s ten lap Superbike race at Imatranajo, Todd had to use all his skills, ability and keep his cool out front to keep at bay, Open Superbike race victor, Wepol Racing team mate Webb.

Separated throughout by around the half second mark, the penultimate lap of the race saw Todd move plus 0.8 clear of reigning IRRC Superbike series winner Webb.

Tunbridge Wells Webb though wasn’t giving up, and with a quickest lap time of 1 minute 51.210 seconds, took over six tenths out of Todd’s on lap 10, ultimately finishing 0.16 behind the second quickest TT newcomer in history.

Finalising the podium finishers behind the evenly matched Todd and Webb, was 38 Motorsport supported Erno Kostamo, who finished just over 2.7 seconds down in arrears to the class pace setters.

Marek Cerveny clinched fourth, Didier Grams took fifth, event wildcard Pauli Pekkanen banked sixth, whilst Lukas Maurer quietly impressed again in recording a very respectable seventh place finish.

Finalising the top ten finishers were Juha Kallio, Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Virgil Amber Bloemhard and leading competitor from Sweden Markus Karlsson.
