IRRC Hengelo: Wildcard Salvadori Imperious In SBK Showpiece, Maurer P2

Continuing the sensational form showcased in Saturday’s qualifying sessions around the 3.031 miles long Varsselring course, Luca Salvadori imperiously stormed to opening IRRC Superbike race spoils.

This record-breaking turn of pace, allied to a world-class all-round display, saw the Italian finish firmly to the top of the truly international field.

Salvadori’s final race winning margin exceeded 5.7 seconds with reigning IRRC SBK Champion Lukas Maurer, having much better luck than what arose at the Northwest 200, taking second.

With race victor Salvadori an event wildcard, Maurer takes the full 25 IRRC SBK Championship points.

Long term second place holder Thijs Peeters, winner of the opening BeNeLux Trophy Superbike race, on the ninth, last lap dropped to third.
