IRRC Hengelo: Classy Lagrive Opens Up 17 Point Championship Lead, Hoffmann, Yves Bian, Schmitz All Impress

Backing up the form he showed in the opening Supersport encounter, Matthieu Lagrive produced another stylish, classy display this afternoon around the varsselring course, to clinch successive IRRC Supersport victories.

Clinching race honours by just over the 1.5 second mark, the Wepol Road Racing racer’s victory gives him an already impressive looking 17 point Championship lead.

Runner up behind the reigning series champion, was Delaur Road Racing Belgium’s Laurent Hoffmann, who provided stiff opposition throughout to the peerless Lagrive.

Twice former series champion Hoffmann, established amongst Belgium’s foremost roads competitors of the 21st century, was closely pursued in the battle for 2nd by Optimark Road Racing’s Pierre Yves Bian, who ultimately went onto bank a second successive third place finish.

Presently second in the Championship standings, LSE Racing’s Christian Schmitz finished in fourth place whilst Thomas Walther, Luca Gottardi, Kamil Holan and Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Ilja Caljouw all showed solid, accomplished pace on route to respective fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth place finishes.

Completing the first ten finishers in another entertaining, top quality Supersport race on the fast, flowing smooth roads of the Varsselring, were Jorn Hamberg and Mountain Course stalwart Xavier Denis.
