By Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Jorn Hamberg, sprinted to pole position for tomorrow’s IRRC Supersport races at Frohburger Dreieck, after a first-class display within this afternoon’s second qualifying stint.
First qualifying winner, IRRC Supersport series leader Marek Cerveny, was the early pace setter during Q1, lapping sub 1 minute 39.5 seconds.
By the sixth timed laps of Q2, Dutch ace Hamberg had upped his pace and some, registering a lap time of 1:38.502 seconds, which would not be usurped by WRP Wepol Racing’s Cerveny.
Hamberg’s Performance Racing Achterhoek team-mate Ilja Caljouw (1.40.750) finished fourth quickest, just 0.435 down on the turn of pace illustrated by event wildcard, IRRC Superbike Champion Lukas Maurer (1.40.315).
Fifth, sixth quickest respectively, separated by only 0.212 of a second were Romain Cleaz Savoyen (1.41.127) and Dymokury podium finisher Sebastian Frotscher (1.41.339).
384 plate carrier Mauro Poncini (1.41.350) edged Wolfgang Schuster (1.41.517) for P8 on the live timing screens whilst twice Supersport TT winner Gary Johnson (1.41.923), marked his racing return with a solid run to the ninth fastest time.
Concluding the top ten from Supersport Q2 was top Frohburg debutant, welcome roads scene returner, 21st Century Irish roads giant Derek McGee (1.42.013).
