As always expect the unexpected, the weather had turned inclement, conditions becoming damp, moist, wet, adding an extra layer of nerves to the Championship contenders.
Dropped to nine laps, the ensuing race saw Erno Kostamo dominate, extracting prior to the races’ optimisation, an advantage topping 17.5 seconds.
Behind 38 Motorsport/Penz 13 backed Kostamo, roads aficionados, reporters, sponsors, team members were firmly fixated on the timing screens, who was about to become 2024 IRRC Superbike Champion?
Answer, Bavaria rider Datzer despite the plucky efforts of Swiss star Maurer.
Yamaha powered Maurer was third outright, pipped to full 25-Championship points by Jorn Hamberg whilst Datzer finished sixth overall, fifth best IRRC competitor.
Datzer, Maurer’s final respective IRRC SBK points totals are 235 and 230, only five points difference!
Luca Gottardi, Laurent Hoffmann were fourth, fifth ahead of Datzer with Nico Muller, Rhys Hardisty, Johannes Schwimmbeck, Emil Krchnavy wrapping up the 2024 IRRC SBK race finale top ten.
