IRRC Chimay: Maurer Leads Chase To Rampant Pole Sitter Lonbois

Backing up his status as a Circuit De Chimay ‘Alien’, Mototech backed Vincent Lonbois commanded overall IRRC Superbike qualifying proceedings.

Fastest in first qualifying by just over 1.4 seconds, Lonbois best lap of 1.38.217 seconds, wouldn’t be surpassed during second qualifying.

Nearest to disposing Lonbois from pole position was Swiss star, top 25 Senior TT finisher Lukas Maurer, who headed Q2 lapping at 1.39.023 seconds.

Completing the front row for tomorrow morning’s 10 lap Superbike encounter was Imatranajo magician Erno Kostamo (1.39.257) who’s pre-event preparations took a hit, following Penz 13’s decision to withdraw support for the remainder of the 2022 IRRC season.

German IRRC legend Didier Grams (1.39.530) placed fourth fastest behind the plucky Kostamo whilst fifth, sixth quickest respectively were Joey Den Besten (1.39.651) and IRRC SBK Championship leader, MTP Racing’s David Datzer (1.39.995).

Sweden’s Markus Karlsson (1.40.142) seventh fastest, continues to impress, same applies to eighth quickest, Frenchman Eddy Ferre (1.40.181).

Rounding out today’s ten speediest 1000cc pilots around a sun kissed Chimay were Performance Racing Achterhoek’s Virgil Amber Bloemhard (1.40.242) and twice, former IRRC Supersport Champion Laurent Hoffmann (1.40.312).

Worth noting as well that in total 25 racers dipped below the 1 minute 45 seconds-mark. Another example of the ever improving, high-standard of IRRC affiliated competition.
