By At Motorcycle Live in 2018 I managed to gain an interview with 2013 Lightweight TT Champion, 2019 North West 200 ‘Man of The Meeting’ James Hillier.
My chat with Rich Energy OMG Racing’s Hillier revolved around Road Racing News, Ten Questions Challenge series and his answers to the worldwide popular series of answers, were as follows:
Q1: Favourite National Roads Meeting?
“Mugello”
Q2: Favourite Racing Bike?
“Probably my 2015 Superbike (Quattro Plant Kawasaki), that was a good bike.”
Q3: What’s the best part of competing on the roads?
“Just the freedom I think of a six lap race (TT), you know you get stuck in it’s a long endurance race, it’s not just like a short sprint.
Freedom, it’s give you that freedom, doing something that you probably really shouldn’t be doing.”
Q4: TT, North West 200 or Ulster Grand Prix?
“TT”
Q5: Most Respected Rival?
“That’s a hard one to answer. I respect all of them, some more than others, but I couldn’t say one in particular over the others.
I couldn’t really say, I respect all of them. John (McGuinness) I suppose, Ian (Hutchinson), Michael (Dunlop), there all different for reasons, Ian obviously keeps coming back so yeah all of them.”
Q6: Best roads moment thus far?
“Probably second in the Senior TT from 2015, I would say.”
Q7: Is their one place or country in the world, where you would like to see a roads meeting held?
“Not really, somewhere warm would be nice, good weather. The Isle of Man (TT/Mountain Course) is the pinnacle isn’t it, I don’t think anything could beat it.
I ain’t fussed, the Isle of Man’s good enough for me really.”
Q8: Who’s your road racing hero?
“I’ve got a few, Joey (Dunlop), DJ (David Jefferies), Joey’s probably top cause of the way he went about his business.”
Q9: Supersport or Superbike?
“I’d rather win a Superbike race, but I enjoy the Supersport, so it’s tricky that.”
Q10: Pole position or fastest lap?
“Fastest lap wins races don’t they, so fastest lap.”
