Ian Stanford joined the very exclusive Oliver’s Mount winners circle at the Barry Sheene Road Race Festival Powered by Suzuki, sealing his first victories at England’s only real roads venue.
Overall fifth in the opening Lightweight/Ultra Lightweight race, he was victorious to the tune of plus 18 seconds to claim Ultra Lightweight class success.
Another overall top six place finish, secured in race 2, was more than enough to make it back to back Ultra Lightweight victories, on his own teams RS 125 Honda.
An experienced competitor at Scarborough, Ian’s wins where firmly a case of good things come to those who wait.
Reflecting on a quite momentous weekend at Oliver’s Mount, Ian stated via his Facebook page:
“What a weekend! Double win on the 125! And 4th and 6th overall in the lightweight class with 250’s and 400’s.
Switched to Metzeler tyres on the 650 to help with a handling issue and we are now there or there about’s. Buzzing from the 125! Ready for the Manx!”
Ian also went onto thank his family, friends and sponsors for all their help and support.
With the added confidence boost of mount success under him, it’s only added to his excitement ahead of the biggest moment of his pure road racing career to date in August, first venture into Mountain Course action at the Manx Grand Prix.
