Roads legend Ian Lougher is set to make his Armoy Road Races debut, having entered the Ultra Lightweight race.
Set to compete on Moto 3 Honda machinery, under his own teams ILR banner, his entry adds another touch of star quality to an already world class line up for the race of legends.
Still ultra competitive within the Ultra Lightweight class, the ten times TT winner recently at the Cock O’The North added to his record breaking total of Oliver’s Mount victories.
Now mentoring rising star Joe Thompson, who better for the York based rider to learn from, than the likeable two times Duke Road Race Rankings champion.
Alongside his notable TT, Southern 100 and Oliver’s Mount achievements, it’s also worth noting Ian’s sustained success within the emerald isle.
An eight times North West 200 winner, he’s also won many a close fought encounter at the Ulster Grand Prix, including a memorable Superbike double in 2005.
It’s a great coup for Armoy organisers, to have Ian’s name on the entry list; it’s also a great boost for the 125/Moto 3 class, which is guaranteed to provide entertaining/close competition in late July.
